Señora Jenkins started a new activity for students studying Spanish. On September 18th, Señora invited students to a lunch activity that involves speaking Spanish while eating and talking with their peers.

The Comida y Conversación was explained by Señora as “an opportunity outside of class for students to practice speaking with friends or students in other classes or other levels in Spanish.”

At her first Comida y Conversación, Señora was pleased with the turnout. “About 15 students showed up, I was only thinking maybe ten so better than I thought.” She went on to say that students from all Spanish levels were there.

When asked why she planned this event, Señora said, “I've been wanting to do something outside of class with all of the different levels and, since it is just my second year, I didn't want to jump into a Spanish club. This is a baby step towards that.”

Señora went on to explain that her first Comida y Conversación was successful. “I got some good feedback from some students that came. They said they enjoyed it, that it was fun talking to different people outside of their class and about things in their lives.” She also explained that they didn't need help getting started. “They talked about whatever they wanted and at their own pace.”

Because of the good outcome, Señora is planning to have a Comida y Conversación every month until she plans to do something bigger (like a club) for the Spanish students.
