In 2010, Natasha Preston started to write on Wattpad for fun. Wattpad is a free app where anyone can write what they want and get feedback. Soon enough she became an amazing writer and has written some books that have made her the New York Times Best Selling Author. I have read some of her books and they have all kept me on the edge of my seat. Currently, I have read the following.
The Cellar- The Cellar was my first favorite book I read. It was suspenseful and kept me reading for hours. It focuses on real-world situations. I like to learn more about the world, even though a lot of it is bad. It's nice to put things into my head that it actually could happen. This book is about a mentally insane man that has wanted a family for himself. Instead of doing normal things like having a wife and kids,he chose to kidnap girls that have had a bad lifestyle. He took four girls and named them after flowers because he believes they are the purest thing in the world. He took them right off of the street and would lock them in his cellar. Throughout the whole book it shows the girls struggles are shown from inside the cellar and it also gives the boyfriend and family perspective. If you like a similar book called A Stolen Life or the movie Cleveland Abduction you will be interested in The Cellar.
The Lost- When I read this book I was completely into it. I was so shocked and pulled into the book immediately. I read it every second that I could and I hated it when I had to stop. It also has real-world situations that could happen but you would never think it could until it really does. It took me into a whole different perspective and showed me the bad parts of the world. In this book, it went over what it was like to be kidnapped. About 11 teens were kidnapped and kept into a room but when the main characters Piper and Hazel arrive, only four of the missing kids were left. The kidnappers would call them into the “Game room” and there were 6 rooms. The main idea is to see if the teens can pass the psychological tests of rooms 1-5 over and over until they died in one of the rooms. The rooms included light, sound, water, sleep deprivation and temperature. The teens are tortured with these and they go into the rooms alone, except they have a partner in room 0 where only one comes out.
Awake- The book Awake was the start of “my addiction to Natasha Preston.” I started reading it at the beginning of the school year and the book Awake set my expectations for a good book. It starts out like it was going to be a romance book and I stayed with it because most of my classmates told me it gets good. I was so happy I read it through the whole thing. It goes to the point where the girls’ love turns out he's actually apart of a cult and takes her to be sacrificed. The ending will surprise you.
So far these are the only Natasha Preston books I have read and I'm in the middle of her book, You Will Be Mine. Since it’s spooky season still and all things are fun and scary, it would be the best time to jump into these books and find out the amazing twists at the end.
