When in high school, a person will form many different relationships that are platonic, professional, and sometimes romantic. Having a boyfriend or girlfriend is another part of life. However, school is for a place of learning. School is not the place for a person to be displaying their affections for a loved one. It isn’t wrong to want to be affectionate, but it’s wrong to display that during school. Most people are just trying to learn. They didn’t come to school to see a freshman couple making out in front of a classroom.
School is a place of learning. People come to school to get an education and better themselves for the future. Most people don’t enjoy having to come to school early in the morning and deal with hours of work. The last thing they need is to see bodily fluids being shared between two people. Just come to school, go to class, and get your work done.
Not only are people being ridiculously public between classes, they are also sharing their feelings in the middle of classes. Many people here at West Jefferson High School have attested to feeling uncomfortable and distracted because certain couples will sit in class being excessively affectionate to each other. It isn’t hygienic and typically makes people feel uncomfortable.
It’s understandable as to why someone would want to show their affections. A person just wants to show how much they enjoy being with a person that makes them happy. But there are more inconspicuous ways of showing that. And there are better places to express your feelings. For example, instead of making out in between classes, just give each other a short hug. Instead of sitting in a study hall giving each other hickeys, actually get your work done like you’re supposed to do in a study hall.
