Yes, ladies and gentlemen of the Millennial Era (and some from Gen Z) one of the best girl groups from the 2000s and 2010s has officially decided to reunite and begin making new and original music again. (Finally!) Since they’re somewhat messy breakup back in 2010, there were hopes that they would come back together, then there were whispers, then the rumors, now it's really happening. Yes, The Pussycat Dolls are back!

They announced their reunion on the popular British branch of the popular talent show, America’s Got Talent, where the band’s leader Nicole Scherzinger is a judge. The group got on the same stage for the first time in over 10 years and performed a medley of their greatest hits. The crowds were completely here for it, seeing the classic moves every fan has rehearsed a thousand times before, hearing classic songs, and we even got a sneak peek of a new song set to debut sometime before the summer called React. From what we’ve heard, it’s sure to be another classic PCD catalog. There is one question everyone has on their mind that seems to have stirred some controversy surrounding their reunion.

When the band first hit the scene and even when they broke up, there were six members. They were Nicole, Carmit, Ashly, Jessica, Kimberly, and Melody. However, fans were quick to notice that when they performed on Britain’s Got Talent and even in their most recent group interviews that one member was not present. Melody Thorton. Many people speculated that her lack of presence in the group’s recent activities might be because of certain drama that occurred when the group was still together. Melody Thorton had always stated that the main reason she joined the group was to act as a vocalist and not as a dancer. However, when she joined, she was rarely ever given any solo parts and was forced to stay near the background more often than not. Well, this took a toll on Melody and made her feel suffocated. I remember even one specific instance where all of the girls were performing without Melody due to “Health Issues” and then Melody all of a sudden appears on stage and begins singing over the top of Nicole, who was technically the group's lead vocalist. I dug a little deeper and found out the real reason Melody decided not to join her former bandmates and if there really was any bad blood between the girls even today.

Back in 2016, Melody was interviewed and asked about the rumors surrounding the possibility of a reunion and her return to the group. Melody stated “I hope they do get back together, I think the fans would be really excited but...I would rather focus on myself for the time being but I wish them the best of luck.” So she appeared to be happy and even excited for the other girls; just wanting to focus on her solo career for the moment. Did the other girls feel this way? Let’s find out.

During one of their first interviews as a group since 2009, all of the returning girls were asked about their current life situations, with a couple talking about family and having their first children, then they were asked about the connection as a group. This led to talk of the group's missing member, Melody, and reasons why she wasn’t part of the reunion. Nicole took to answering this question by saying “We’ve all been kept pretty busy with our own lives and Melody told us she just didn’t feel in the right mindset for a reunion and we fully understood.”

So, there you have it. Though the drama may have been present during the group’s break-up, whatever vendettas they may have had with each other seems to have been squashed and both ends are wishing each other the best of luck. As far as the reunion is concerned, everyone seems to be really excited and I for one am excited to hear all the new music they release.
