West Jefferson High School’s Media Center is having a book sale on Wednesday, October 30th, 2019 from 2:45 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. If you ask me, the book sale is a can’t miss but don’t take my word for it. Hear it from the librarian of the media center herself, Mrs. Kearns, in her answers to these questions below!

1) What exactly is the book sale? - “The book sale is a fundraiser the Media Center is hosting to raise money for various things including author visits or other fun things for the Media Center. We're going to have close to 1,000 books for sale all of which will be $2 or less! There are free book totes for the first ten people that make a purchase. Annnnndddd...Tortilla Food Truck will be here from 4-7 serving up yummy goodness (I mean who doesn't love a good churro?!)”

2) What is the purpose of this sale? - “There's a few reasons for this sale. First, raise funds for the Media Center. Second, we weeded the library books last year and weren't sure what to do with them. Often, libraries sell these books to their patrons to raise funds. So it's the proverbal two birds one stone - sell books we don't need and raise money at the same time. Third, it's a great way to get the community involved with a school event.”

3) Why is this book sale happening? - “This book sale is happening because we are no longer hosting the Scholastic Book Fair, but would still like to hold a fundraiser.”

4) How is word being spread, aside from this article? - “Because the book sale is open to the public, I have publicized this event through the school's Twitter and Facebook pages, my personal pages, the Madison Messenger, the sign in town as well as well as our own school sign.”

5) Will our school still have the Scholastic book sale? - “No.”

6) If not, why won't we have the Scholastic book sale? - “So last year, we spent a good half a day setting up the books and knick knacks they want you to sell and we didn't sell much of anything over the course of the week. I'm hoping that with this style of sale, we will reach a larger audience and hopefully we will be able to create a book sale that we can have yearly.”

7) What would you like for people to know about this book sale? - “That everyone should come! Even if it's just to grab some grub from the food truck and say hi!”
