Do you want to give back to your community over spring break? On Monday, April 22, you can participate in Madison County Service Day at the Little Darby Scenic Preserve. This Earth Day Challenge gives you the opportunity to compete with other Madison County high schools to clear invasive brush and plant native trees. The School District with the most participants wins a championship trophy. Registration for the events ended on April 5, however you are still eligible to participate. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon on April 22 at 5995 Lafayette Plain City Road (see attached poster). Participants under the age of 18 must complete the attached form. See a science teacher for more information.
If you are unable to take part in the challenge, there are many other opportunities to get involved in your community on Earth Day. On Saturday, April 20, Earth Day Columbus will be hosting and Earth Day Celebration at Genoa Park. Come between noon and 8pm to experience “a day-long celebration featuring great local bands, family-friendly activities, eco-friendly artisans, an electric vehicle ride & drive, and Columbus' best food trucks.”
For those who are not interested in attending any of these events, there are still plenty of ways to make a difference in your community with little effort! From planting a tree to riding your bike, every little things counts. See this link for an expanded list of activities to do on Earth Day, or any day!
