A new series was released on Netflix in March of 2019. The hot new TV show, All-American, has taken over the talk on almost every social media site. Everyone is talking about the new, trendy drama. The show follows the lives of a few high school students, their families, and their obstacles faced.
The show focuses mainly on Spencer Baker, who is an African-American football prodigy from the hood of Crenshaw, Los Angeles. Spencer takes pride in his hometown roots where he is surrounded by his mother, little brother, and best friend. But the ugly part of what surrounds Spencer, is violence. Spencer is given the opportunity to get out of Crenshaw and increase his chances of making it to the league when the head coach of Beverly High School, (Beverly Hills, Los Angeles) Billy Baker, recruits him to come play for his team. When Spencer takes the opportunity, his whole life is changed. He encounters a new school, new teammates, and new relationships. Throughout the series, you watch as the main characters not only tackle their opponents on the field, but their problems outside of the game. Although this new drama is fictional, it includes your average teenager problems and teaches valuable lessons.
The actors and actresses do an amazing job at showing real emotions and feelings throughout the show. Most of the cast is up and coming, such as Greta Onieogou, Daniel Ezra, and Michael Behling. Some of the cast you may be familiar with such as Samantha Logan who acted in the MTV show, Teen Wolf. Cody Christian is another familiar face on the screen who has acted in Pretty Little Liars and Teen Wolf. The soundtrack to the show was almost as good as the series, itself! The soundtrack includes popular artists such as Russ, Travis Scott, The 1975, Big Sean, Jhene Aiko, Nipsey Hussle, and Calvin Harris. I haven't binged watched a TV show since Gossip Girl my sophomore year, but I cannot stop watching this show. I highly suggest giving it a try!
