Whenever New York City is mentioned, most people just might think of Frank Sinatra’s song, “New York, New York” or the tragedy that happened on September 11th, 2001. Maybe they think of all the hit Broadway musicals that have topped music charts in many countries? Or the famous buildings and skyscrapers found in downtown Manhattan? Perhaps, they might even think of the infamous “pizza folding” that locals and devoted tourists engage in within hidden corner pizza stores. Or, the obvious answer, the chaotic traffic, and constant horn-honking throughout the city? Whatever it is that comes to mind, however, leads someone to think of something describing the large and hyped city. So, what is it exactly that makes New York City so special? What is it that makes the trip there worth it?

For many people, especially immigrants from different countries, the “city that never sleeps” is a dream come true. New York City isn’t the most visited city in the United States for no reason. In fact, over 8 million people live in New York City, meaning that 1 in every 38 people in America is found living in the ‘concrete jungle’. Not only that, over 800 languages are spoken throughout the city, leaving 4 in 10 households there that speak a language other than English. In addition to that, this city is home to more Chinese citizens than any city, aside from those found in Asia. And, if we’re speaking about the city itself, Manhattan is home to the top two most visited places in America: Times Square and Central Park, which, by the way, are always crowded with visitors and tourists.

It’s pretty easy to see why New York City is as famous as it is. Everyone views it differently and has their own opinions on it. However, from seeing how many people are living there, there has to be a reason it’s as popular as it is. Maybe it’s simply because it’s the closest destination for the Eastern part of the world to travel to? Or maybe the attractions and exceptionally tall skyscrapers that attract visitors from around the world every day? Yet, ‘New York, New York’ could still very well be the correct answer as to why many people admire New York City as it is. Whatever it is, there’s a reason over 8 million people stay in the city to live there. So, honestly, it’s easy to see that the trip to New York City is one of the greatest trips to make.
