The 2018 movie, Midnight Sun, directed by Scott Speer, is a movie full of love and obstacles. Katie Price is an 18-year old girl who has a rare genetic condition, known as xeroderma pigmentosum. The disease consists of a life-threatening sensitivity to sunlight, which means she must be sheltered in her home during the day. She is surrounded in her home by her father, Jack, and her best friend, Morgan. Katie lost her mother at a young age to cancer.

One night, Katie leaves her house to go play her guitar at her usual spot- the train station. While there, she is noticed by her longtime, from a distance, crush, Charlie. She fleas quickly from him when he approaches her, but leaves a journal full of her music behind and it is recovered by Charlie. Charlie gets the journal back to Katie and they plan on a date. From then on, Charlie and Katie share a relationship full of love and spontaneous adventures. The acting done in this part of the movie is what really hit all the emotions. If it wasn't for the intense and realistic acting, I don't think the ending would have been so emotional.

While I was watching this movie, not only was I full of tears- yes, this movie literally brought me to tears, and not just a few tears, but actual sobs- but it also brought me much happiness. This movie portrays the idea that love is never easy, it’s never ideal, but it’s a feeling that should never be given up on. If you love someone, nothing can stop that, even death. I found this movie to fit in perfectly with the type of genre of movies I like. If you enjoy sappy and romantic movies, Midnight Sun is one of the best.
