On September 3rd 2018 at 3:20pm Nike and Colin Kaepernick took over the internet with one tweet with a picture on Twitter-Colin posted a picture of him in black and white with words across it that said “Believe in something, even if it means sacrificing everything. #JustDoIt”. Following up Nike retweeted the post that Colin had made. After Nike retweeted Colin post the some people were not happy at all but at the same time some people were very happy. I was not happy that Nike said stood with what Colin Kaepernick is doing.

Colin Kaepernick was the quarterback for San Francisco 49ers, on September 13 2016 Colin kneeled when the National Anthem was being played. "I am not going to a stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color," Colin told NFL Media in an interview after the game. "To me, this is bigger than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder."

I do understand that Colin does have the freedom of speech which he is expressing at the football games when he knees during the National Anthem but I think that he should show that he is not happy somewhere else. The National Anthem has a different meaning to people, I believe it is a time to horo all the men and women the has fought in any war and I stand for all the fallen soldiers that can not stand or that has passed. This is one reason why I do not stand with Colin and what he his doing.

On the other hand some people agree with Colin Kaepernick and they support what Nike did. I think that everyone should have an opinion on this topic so I will not agree with them but at the same time I will not ignore them when they talk to me. I will not change my mind I will stay/stick with my opinion and I will not be okay with what Colin and Nike did. I do think it is very brave of Colin for doing this because the NFL was trying to get them to stop and to try to get everyone to stand up when the national anthem is being played. The NFL told the team coaches that “the teams would be fined if their men continued to do so.” I know that a coach at West Jefferson would not be happy at all of if someone on the team was costing the team a lot of money they student/player would be having a conversation with the coach, parents, principles, and supperndent about what they will be doing about how they will be handling this problem. I would think that after a while and after a lot of money down the drain the coaches would say alright you need to stop or go to a new team and waste their money. After the first time that Colin kneed New York Times said “Colin Kaepernick has as much chance of playing quarterback again in the NFL as a police officer would of being convicted of killing a black man.” I did think this but he continued to play. That is their problem that they will have under control, I think.

All and all I think that the whole Nike and Colin Kaepernick situation is way overrated and I think that something will be done about it very soon because some people that do not agree with Nike, the people are starting to burn there Nike gear in the roads. I think that someone will get hurt then someone will realize that we need to stop and forces on something more important than you is standing and kneeling at when the National Anthem is being played. With all of this being said I will always stay standing for the National Anthem and will not agree with what Colin Kaepernick is doing.
